[00:02:01] Chelsey Donn: 'I just couldn't wait another second. So like guys listening, doctors 'I, doctors in the audience 'I have like really serious acid reflux issues and 'I am like required by my doctor. 'I mean, not that like 'I do what 'I want to do, but my doctor has prescribed me to take A' prescription and acid every day.
[00:02:23] Chelsey Donn: Take A' prescription and acid pill. , but I'm stuck in this vicious cycle. 'I can never get off of this pill, even though like it affects other vitamins and like my 'I affects my iron, like it, it affects my body. But if 'I forget to take it, like if 'I even take it, A'. Little bit late 'I. 'I get so much sicker.
[00:02:43] Chelsey Donn: There's like so much more acid buildup because of this. It's like 'I shouldn't be taking the pill long term cuz we're not really supposed to be taking this pill long term. But 'I can't stop taking it because if 'I stop taking it, then the acid is so bad. I'm like completely beholden to this Anas medication.
[00:03:01] Chelsey Donn: It's very frustrating. I'm very uncomfortable. I'm on my third tons of the day, which 'I don't even know if we're supposed to be doing that. And 'I. 'I can't live like this. 'I just can't, 'I can't go on with this acid reflux issue. I've like tried doing baking soda in water cuz that's supposed to be something that's helpful.
[00:03:20] Chelsey Donn: 'I can't find anything that like kicks this habit and it's so uncomfortable. 'I have A' A' as 'I speak right now. 'I gotta fix it. 'I need help. Doctors, if you're listening, help A' sister out. I'm gonna go for another Tums.
[00:03:35] Trey Gerrald: did you start noticing that you had acid reflux in your life?
[00:03:39] Chelsey Donn: From like A', very young age, 'I had A', lot of abdominal problems. 'I like not gonna overshare but 'I spent A'. Lot of time in the hospital as A' kid with like different stomach issues. And so for as long as 'I can remember, I've had A', lot of acid issues. To the point where 'I like, I'm like not allowed to take any Advil or NSAIDs because like my stomach lining is too thin.
[00:04:03] Chelsey Donn: So like it's an issue like it's A' real problem and 'I understand that 'I need to be on this medication because when I'm not on it, even for A' day, even if 'I like forget to take it in the morning and 'I take it mid-afternoon, like whatever it is, 'I really like get very sick. But that's also disturbing.
[00:04:21] Chelsey Donn: Most people that take like pep or these like generic acid medications are not taking them every day. And I'll literally go to the pharmacy and they're like, You know, you're not supposed to be taking this all the time. And I'm like, Awesome. But 'I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I'm completely

[00:04:35] Chelsey Donn: It's terrible.
[00:04:36] Trey Gerrald: 'I Hear that. I'm really sorry. 'I. Hope that 'I hope that something changes this Complaint in your life.
[00:04:42] Chelsey Donn: Thank you 'I. Hope so too. 'I. Think 'I might need to like full on. See like A' non. Eastern Medica like 'I need to see somebody else. 'I, need like A' medicine man that's going to be able to help fix this issue cuz 'I think that normal doctors, 'I, 'I, can't!, they can't help me anymore. W

[00:05:05] Trey Gerrald: 'I think I've had it A' few times. If 'I eat something really spicy.

[00:05:18] Chelsey Donn: Anyway, 'I haven't even asked you about your week. I've just lodged into my acid A' reflux spiel. So let's talk about your week. Or do you have A' Complaint? You need to jump right into Trey. What's going on with you?
[00:05:29] Trey Gerrald: I'm good. 'I don't have any acid reflux like which 'I think is very fortunate. I'm hearing and you know, life is good. We're chugging along. It's November, which is so nice. And you know, 'I love fall, 'I love pumpkin, 'I love wearing A' card again. So I'm happy.
[00:05:46] Chelsey Donn: Oh yeah. Did you make A' pumpkin pie
[00:05:48] Trey Gerrald: 'I haven't made it yet, but I'm going to.
[00:05:50] Trey Gerrald: 'I. 'I often make many pumpkin pies. 'I, don't wait till Thanksgiving. 'I like 'I make many of them. It is my favorite,
[00:05:57] Chelsey Donn: Yes.
[00:05:58] Trey Gerrald: but 'I really am ready to Lodge A'. Complaint as well. 'I don't need any niceties. Let's jump right in. 'I recognize that everyone, uh, has to have A' job. So I'm not meaning to hate on anyone who chooses this profession, but 'I really need to Lodge A Complaint against door to door sales.

[00:06:17] Trey Gerrald: 2022. We have so much technology at our disposal to reach people. We've talked about this and complaints in the past. There's A' bajillion ways in which to reach out and, and solicit your services. Please do not come up to my front door, ring the doorbell, or god forbid, knock on the door when you hear two outrageously angry chihuahuas barking at the door.
[00:06:43] Trey Gerrald: 'I, you, You know, I'm not, It's not, That doesn't create A' setting for which 'I want to open the door. 'I, 'I can't. I'm not gonna get my hand bit.
[00:06:53] Chelsey Donn: Have you ever opened the door to see what they're trying to sell you
[00:06:56] Trey Gerrald: Well, our front,
[00:06:57] Chelsey Donn: is it religion?
[00:06:58] Trey Gerrald: our front doors have little glass squares so we can actually see the people. But 'I just ignore anyone that comes to the door. If it's not DoorDash, then there's no reason for me to go to the.
[00:07:11] Chelsey Donn: Right.
[00:07:11] Trey Gerrald: You know, it's interesting cuz David just goes to the door and, and deals with the dogs and is like, Wait A' minute, hold on.
[00:07:17] Trey Gerrald: And then he like goes out and talks to people. He once had, he once spoke with A' detective who was looking for someone that stole A' car and they were asking if we had A' Smart Cam and if they could look through the footage to see if we happened to see A' car go by. You know, 'I would've been no help to that case. We've also had solicitors come as one of our after shows was A' review that David found because someone was trying to sell us pest control services.
[00:07:44] Chelsey Donn: right. Yeah,
[00:07:45] Trey Gerrald: It doesn't matter, but if 'I don't know you're coming, I'm not coming to the door. It's 2022. Everyone's crazy. Everyone could kill you. I'm not doing it. 'I have dogs.
[00:07:55] Trey Gerrald: Don't se don't try to come and sell me if you're trying to sell me something at my door. 'I. Think it's A' bait and switch because 'I need to read reviews. Hello? 'I. Have A' podcast about reviews. You're you're not, you're not gonna pull A' fast one on me. It's not gonna happen. Can we just retire door to door salesmen?
[00:08:12] Trey Gerrald: We don't 'I am not gonna buy A' vacuum from you. I'm not gonna
[00:08:14] Chelsey Donn: Especially in like A' post. Covid.
[00:08:17] Trey Gerrald: over. None of that A' the end. No more door to door salesmen.
[00:08:21] Chelsey Donn: It's interesting cuz like 'I do 'I gotta say 'I. Respect the hustle. Oftentimes on Shark Tank, which you know is like one of my favorite shows. They'll talk about like, how did you get started? Like selling your, Here's A' Shark Tank product that 'I have right here.
[00:08:35] Chelsey Donn: Cause I'm giving it as A' gift. It's called Snack Diff. Have you seen this before? 'I? Don't know if they did, but I'm just giving you an example. This is A'. This is hands free snacking, but you don't have to use your finger. You like wear, it's like chopstick that you wear
[00:08:48] Trey Gerrald: Oh,
[00:08:49] Chelsey Donn: so you can like type and do what you need and you can still grab your snacks.
[00:08:51] Chelsey Donn: 'I got 'I as A' gift for A', client of mine. But anyway, 'I. The thing is, sometimes they'll ask them like, How did you start? Like, Oh, your sales are so impressive. Like, how did you start? And they'll say like, 'I literally went door to door in my neighborhood and like started selling them. And then Mark Cuban or whoever will always like applaud them and be like, That's it, that's A' hustle.
[00:09:10] Chelsey Donn: That so 'I get, Or even like, you know, have you ever, like at home, sometimes we'll have kids when it snows or when there's A', lot of leaves and they'll knock on the door and be like, Hey, like, can we like, you know, remove the leaves on your alarm for 20 bucks or something like that. Like 'I kind of think.
[00:09:25] Chelsey Donn: Cute and cool and entrepreneurial, but 'I do recognize that in this day and age, especially for those of us like yourself who listen to A' lot of true crime and have seen how A' lot of these things can end badly. How it can be very jarring to have someone just show up at your door without knowing. In fact, my parents.
[00:09:45] Chelsey Donn: Live across the country in New Jersey, but I've installed A', video doorbell at their house. So 'I literally get an alert when anybody comes to my parents' house, cuz 'I wanna know, even though I'm across the country. And I'll call them and be like, There's A' guy on your doorstep. Like, do you know who it is?
[00:10:01] Chelsey Donn: And they'll say like, Oh, that's the guy who's, you know, who's gonna wash their cars or something like that. But like, It's scary when like you're not expecting somebody to show up and they just show up. So 'I definitely wanna acknowledge that Complaint 'I think that's fair and valid, especially with the dogs.
[00:10:15] Chelsey Donn: Like nobody. Nobody got time for that. We got enough of it with the Amazon and the delivery and all that
[00:10:21] Trey Gerrald: that is A' Good distinction that you've brought up because Yes, when it snows like crazy, there's always A' bunch of guys that come around and they like ask to shovel. That's wonderful. Thank you. That's A' service. Don't sell me A' product at my door. You can sell me A'

[00:11:06] Trey Gerrald: it's exactly like that. And you can write A' little note. And then what 'I loved about this one is at the end, after you do it, it says, Here's another way to support. You can buy them this t-shirt with their LogoVora on it. Like the sports team, like 'I was like, Oh my God, this is so smart.

[00:11:22] Trey Gerrald: in this conversation, 'I do miss, like trying to sell popcorn or like, you know, Girl Scout
[00:11:28] Chelsey Donn: Like just like having those like brochures where it's like you can buy chocolate or you can buy like A' seat cushion 'I. Don't know. It was like kind of random. Oh, nostalgia. Gotta love it. All right, well 'I think that that's A' valid. Complaint. 'I. Feel like at this point I'm ready for more. And 'I, think we could jump into some online reviews?

[00:12:30] Chelsey Donn: Good old Amazon.
[00:12:31] Trey Gerrald: written by A' user named Spencer.
[00:12:35] Chelsey Donn: Okay, Spencer.
[00:12:36] Trey Gerrald: And this is for A' product called Amazon Basics. Gaffer's Tape, two inch by 90 feet White. Now, just before we start, do you know what Gaffer's tape is?
[00:12:51] Chelsey Donn: Well 'I always think of it like when we do shows and stuff. Isn't that kind of like the tape they use to mark your marks?
[00:12:58] Trey Gerrald: Yeah, so it's, it's A' heavy cotton cloth tape, basically. So it's like duct tape, but it's made of cloth so it can tear really quickly and easily. But the like, stickiness is different than like 'I don't like A', you know, like A' duct tape or A' scotch tape. So it is very often used in film and television.
[00:13:22] Trey Gerrald: And like electrical situations.
[00:13:25] Chelsey Donn: like tying down wires and then also marking actors blocking.
[00:13:30] Trey Gerrald: exactly. So here we go. This is Spencer's one star Amazon review for Gafe tape.
[00:13:37] Chelsey Donn: Okay.
[00:13:38] Trey Gerrald: This is A' verified purchase. The subject is, didn't know 'I could hate tape.
[00:13:45] Chelsey Donn: Okay.
[00:13:47] Trey Gerrald: 'I didn't wake up this morning and think. I'm going to write A' review about tape 'I bought on Amazon end quote.
[00:13:55] Trey Gerrald: But then again, 'I didn't think tape existed. Dot, that doesn't dot stick. You probably need gaffer's tape and you're thinking, Why is it so expensive to question Marks? 'I don't know, but 'I can tell you exactly why this is so cheap. It doesn't stick. 'I don't understand 'I want answers, and it just does not stick.
[00:14:25] Trey Gerrald: 'I am giving it five stars for versatility because it taught me A' lot. One, my dad was wrong. There are bigger disappointments than me.
[00:14:37] Chelsey Donn: Uh,
[00:14:38] Trey Gerrald: Two, this tape doesn't stick. Three, You can have an existential crisis while using tape. Four, this tape doesn't stick. Five. My fiance's mom asked me why 'I don't believe in religion and 'I think this tape is the Lord's karma against me.
[00:14:59] Trey Gerrald: Six all caps. This tape does not stick. Seven 'I literally thought, Wow, this tape could literally just be blown off. So 'I tried it. 'I thought 'I was crazy. Go watch the attached video.
[00:15:17] Chelsey Donn: Oh my God.
[00:15:18] Trey Gerrald: Eight. How does this tape not stick? It has A' single job. Question mark. If you buy this tape, use the money you saved and go see A' therapist for why you hate yourself that much.

[00:16:06] Trey Gerrald: Now 'I, wanna point out the wall that that tape was on is very textured for what that's worth.
[00:16:12] Chelsey Donn: and 'I was gonna say when we first started talking about G first tape, 'I also do think about gaffers tape as being relatively easy to remove. Like it's not, it's not meant to be like A' permanent.
[00:16:25] Trey Gerrald: Right. It's not glue,
[00:16:26] Chelsey Donn: It's like, yeah, like you put it down to Mark, A' mark or like whatever it is, and then you take it up.
[00:16:32] Chelsey Donn: But it, that being said, it does seem like the adhesive on this gaffer's tape is not good enough to really like, withstand any, any length of time.
[00:16:42] Trey Gerrald: anything.
[00:16:43] Chelsey Donn: Okay. Spencer, you definitely went for the laughs. 'I appreciate it. There was definitely A', lot of humor there. We didn't, we didn't have humor like at the cost of spelling and grammar, which 'I think is A' Good thing like it.
[00:16:56] Chelsey Donn: 'I still felt like it didn't go too colloquial, even though it was jokey. Does that make.
[00:17:03] Trey Gerrald: Yep.
[00:17:04] Chelsey Donn: 'I like that Spencer said, like, gaffer cheap is expensive. 'I don't know why, but like, you know, this is sort of A' an example of with these Amazon basic products, especially 'I, think the whole idea of Amazon basic products is to offer products that are typically more expensive for A' cheaper price and get us to think like, okay, like this is, it's like the trader.
[00:17:26] Chelsey Donn: Method, right? Like you could buy A', Pirates Booty for like double the price, or you can buy like Trader Joe's, Pirates Booty for Half. And somehow that works because they work directly with the manufacturers and they make that pricing work. And 'I, When 'I see Amazon Basics in something 'I, think it's A' similar scenario.
[00:17:42] Chelsey Donn: So 'I can understand how people would look for. Typically more expensive products and go with the Amazon basic version for this reason. So 'I think it's important that he pointed out, Listen, this is an expensive product. I'm not really sure why it's an expensive product, but 'I went with A' cheaper version and it didn't work out for me.
[00:17:59] Chelsey Donn: 'I think that's like A'. Good point to
[00:18:02] Trey Gerrald: Yeah, 'I. Agree. Do you think that Spencer really has A' fiance and mother who's asked them why doesn't believe him in religion, or is that strictly accommodating?
[00:18:12] Chelsey Donn: 'I think that that's like A' true thing. In fact, 'I thought that maybe 'I knew this. Spencer, why 'I don't know. 'I have A' friend named Spencer, that's A' lighting designer. And so 'I who like it worked. He worked at A' religious institution, but he doesn't really like. Believe in religion

[00:18:30] Chelsey Donn: at one point.
[00:18:31] Chelsey Donn: So 'I was like, 'I wonder if this is him. 'I mean it's probably not. I'm sure there's like A' lot of people named Spencer, but 'I did believe that that was A' thing. Like 'I think obviously using it for comedic effect here. But 'I did believe that just as there was A' kernel of truth in the first sentence about, you know, the dad bigger disappointments than him or something that he, you know, 'I do think that.
[00:18:56] Chelsey Donn: Definitely Spencer has some psychological ish going on.
[00:19:00] Trey Gerrald: Yeah, they're definitely leaning into that for sure.
[00:19:03] Chelsey Donn: And this tape just sent them over the edge also, like why did we bring up the existential crisis multiple times? Like 'I understand the device of the tape didn't stick even though it got A'. Little bit old, but like, okay, cool, fun. But like, did we mention existential crisis also like three times.
[00:19:21] Trey Gerrald: It is in here. Yes. At least twice 'I. See for sure. Yeah. You know, there's so much going on in this review and it, it's an interesting balance of like some of the jokes 'I think are really funny and then some of it I'm sort of like, Okay, okay. But then 'I also like 'I, think it's very funny to make the subject 'I.
[00:19:39] Trey Gerrald: Didn't know 'I could hate tape. Cuz that's very funny. Like 'I get it and then the first sentence 'I think is so funny and it's such A' funny premise. 'I didn't wake up this morning and think I'm gonna write A' review about tape 'I bought on Amazon. That's very like hilarious. It makes me feel like Spencer is with me.
[00:19:55] Trey Gerrald: They get it, like it's gonna be good, but then it like, maybe the joke just goes on too long,
[00:20:00] Chelsey Donn: 'I. Think it's just, Yeah. Another example that happens often where like, we kind of, we should have edited down when Spencer says 'I want answers, you know, who do, who do we think we're gonna get answers from? The, the seller, the manufacturer,
[00:20:16] Trey Gerrald: Yeah. 'I. Don't know. 'I. Don't even know if Spencer thinks he's ever gonna get the answers.
[00:20:19] Chelsey Donn: right? Is this like one of those. Existential philosophical A' chair is not A' chair type questions that we're just not really expecting to get an answer from. Or like, Do we actually want the manufacturers of this product to answer for their failures?
[00:20:34] Trey Gerrald: Right 'I. Also A' 'I Applaud Spencer's use of attaching A' video

[00:20:43] Trey Gerrald: to prolong the joke. 'I think that that's an example of A' comedy Review that we haven't seen yet on the show. They've got an extra length, so we now know they actually did buy the product and they are actually proving the main point here that it doesn't.
[00:21:00] Chelsey Donn: right. Yeah. 'I. Think that this is A'. Good review. 'I. Think there's A'. Lot of humor here. Um, 'I don't because of the video. Even if 'I did, maybe think Spencer's being A', little bit shady because of the video, 'I think some of that shade factor is removed, which is kind of cool. What do we think that Spencer does for A' living if he's not my friend, the lighting designer?

[00:22:04] Trey Gerrald: Lot of Gafe tape. Only based on the fact that they say 'I didn't know 'I could hate tape like it does. [00:22:35] Trey Gerrald: you know, 'I. 'I do think that like the 'I guess, 'I feel like it doesn't occur as shady to me when they say, if you buy this tape, use the money. You saved and go see

[00:22:47] Trey Gerrald: for why you hate yourself that much like that actually occurs to me as like, I'm telling you, this doesn't stick. I've gone on and on about how it doesn't stick.
[00:22:54] Trey Gerrald: I've attached A' video of how it doesn't stick, so like why would you buy it? It does really occur to me as like, don't buy this. Like that really is the impact for me, even though 'I do think it's kind of shady.
[00:23:04] Chelsey Donn: Yeah, but now they're bringing that up. 'I feel like all of this is really in A' psychological sense, speaking to like, Spencer's issues, right? Like this, like he, not everybody that gets bad tape is gonna need to go to therapy. Some people might just return the tape, you know, like
[00:23:26] Trey Gerrald: That's A'. Really good point. Spencer has really been turned on his head about this non
[00:23:32] Chelsey Donn: an existential crisis Now, 'I understand that there's like some sort of exaggerated, hyperbolic humor happening here, but like 'I do believe this. While 'I do think this review is valuable and funny and 'I like that, it's different and unique in all of those things. 'I do also think that, again, the thesis statement is the tape didn't stick, and like some people would just stop there and not buy it.
[00:23:56] Chelsey Donn: Or if they received it and it didn't stick, it would be like the tape didn't stick. So 'I returned it.
[00:24:01] Trey Gerrald: Right. It's A'. Really. It's A'. Very over the top reaction.
[00:24:04] Chelsey Donn: we're clearly learning that. Spencer, you know, he is an emotional guy.
[00:24:11] Trey Gerrald: Yeah, for sure.
[00:24:13] Chelsey Donn: You know this really give, spun him into A'. This was the final straw for Spencer, the dad saying that he, you know, that he's the biggest disappointment, the future in-laws, saying that there was something wrong with him cuz he didn't believe in religion.
[00:24:27] Chelsey Donn: That was all just like, you know, the foundation. And this tape really just took the whole house of cards down.
[00:24:35] Trey Gerrald: 1,280 people found this helpful. So you know, 'I, think 'I
[00:24:41] Chelsey Donn: is there. The point is there. 'I think 'I could Crown Spencer.
[00:24:44] Trey Gerrald: 'I think so too. Let's go ahead and do it. So ChelseyBD and 'I each have our own set of zero to five crown cards. In an effort to be fair and not influence one another, we will simultaneously reveal our rating.

Maybe you know Spencer hasn't really used Gafe tape before and doesn't really understand that.
[00:25:30] Chelsey Donn: It's not really meant to be like A' huge adhesive, like sticking things together kind of tape. So leaving room for Spencer, not really understanding how to use this product. And also maybe being A'. Little bit emo A', little bit dramatic. 'I went with four crowns. That being said, A'. Lot of great stuff here.
[00:25:47] Chelsey Donn: A'. Lot of great information. The video definitely queenly. And the humor was there for me. So four crowds as you know. Great score for me. Why did you decide to make Spencer A'? Review? Queen?
[00:26:00] Trey Gerrald: You know, 'I was gonna say four and A' half, but then 'I was like, You know what, I'll just give A', A', Review, Queen, because 'I think the use of the four second video of like blowing the tape off of this textured wall speaks for itself. 'I mean. 'I would watch this and be like, Oh, well 'I need to. Get A' more sticky tape.

Receiving the review and the video. 'I. Don't know. 'I, Just think it's tape.

It's at Granny's off her rocker. She is my favorite. She's so funny. She's A', Total Queen. 'I get so many laughs from watching her videos. She has an amazing dynamic with her daughter Nancy, who does all the tapes.
[00:27:47] Chelsey Donn: 'I. And she kind of reminds me of my grandmother. She's become this internet sensation and she's like all of our grandmothers, right? 'I lost my grandparents A' long time ago. So being able to watch these videos and connect with her and the humor that's sort of similar to the way my grandmother was, is really healing and meaningful to me.
[00:28:04] Chelsey Donn: And 'I just love her and she's an inspiration to me. On her birthday, her daughter Nancy, made A' Walmart wishlist with all, uh, different items that you can buy for her. And in most of Granny's videos, she's wearing pajamas, though 'I will say she can show up with A' fit and look like fly as hell. Granny's off rocker is.
[00:28:26] Chelsey Donn: A' hot piece, not gonna lie, but for the most part, granny wears pajamas. And so 'I went on to her Walmart wishlist, and 'I found that Granny had A' pair of pajamas that had said Queen of everything on it. It was tie dye. So obviously as A', Review, Queen, 'I had to buy granny these pajamas, and now granny wears them all the.
[00:28:47] Chelsey Donn: On her Instagram, on her ticks, which I'm so excited about. 'I get so excited every time she wears them so quickly. 'I know this is A', little bit non-traditional, but 'I just wanted to play A' quick video of granny's off A' rocker in the pajamas that 'I bought her so that you guys could all see.
[00:29:06] Trey Gerrald: Yeah.
[00:29:07] Chelsey Donn: All right, here we are.
[00:29:09] Chelsey Donn: So this is Granny who is now identifying which 'I have to say 'I feel part of this because 'I wrote A', lot of Queen language as A' self appoint to Queen. Let's hear her. Okay. Ready?

[00:30:49] Chelsey Donn: she always likes my comment. She always comments back. She's so sweet. When everybody gave her all these presents for her birthday, she. Was, you know, doing all these videos and thanking everybody, like every individual person who gave her A' gift, and she was like, you know, uh, choking up, just talking about how much it means to her that there's so many people all around the country who see her as, I'm just realizing, I'm still sharing my screen, um, as like A' grandmother figure and that like, they're, they're like family to her and it's just so sweet and she's so sweet and fun.
